I reached out to the Treatment Hub almost as a final option as I had been grappling with Achilles problems that didn't improve with rest alone. Being an avid runner, I was unable to participate fully as one Achilles healed, the other would act up and the cycle would continue. Upon contacting the team, I was advised to see Robbie at Orthotics - I had assumed I needed a Physio or Podiatrist! Robbie conducted a thorough gait analysis, explaining every detail to me, ensuring I comprehended every aspect of my assessment. He recommended custom insoles to address gait issues exacerbating my Achilles and heel problems. Initially, I was doubtful about the impact of an insole, but after contemplating, I decided to give it a try. The assessment process, spanning around 4 additional sessions, involved taking foot casts and subsequent appointments to perfectly fit the insoles without any discomfort. In the interim, I was encouraged to gradually incorporate the insoles into my daily routine and eventually ease back into gentle exercise and running. The entire process, excluding the assessment, cost £295, which initially seemed steep. However, this price covered the custom insoles and the 4 follow-up appointments, each lasting about 45 minutes. So, it averaged around £73 per session, comparable to seeing another team member for treatment. In short, I'm now back to running, free of injuries for the first time in years. I completed the Edinburgh Half Marathon - my 2023 goal before Achilles issues derailed me, ran several 10Ks, and joined the local running club. Would I recommend the Treatment Hub? Absolutely. Would I recommend Orthotic Insoles? Without a doubt.
