We submitted an application for my child, who had excelled in primary school. To our surprise, the school claimed we were not in their system and shifted the blame to the council. If Year 6 exams could have secured placements in good schools based on results, many slots in reputable schools would have remained vacant. In Year 7, there are students who lack basic literacy skills. Upon enrolling at Grove, we encountered daily incidents of bullying, including inappropriate behavior, language, discrimination, and instigating conflicts, with little to no intervention from the teachers. This pattern seems prevalent in other secondary schools like Lynch, Beechwood, Wexham, Slough, Eton, Ditton, among others, as corroborated by various reviews. Where can we relocate our child? Even qualified educators are leaving the secondary school system, indicating a significant disparity in the quality of education compared to other nations.
There seems to be a high turnover of substitute teachers in the school. My daughters struggle to find consistency in their learning environment. I have observed rough and disruptive behavior from children outside the school premises. The school office staff and employees exhibit rudeness and a lack of accountability for their actions. However, I did encounter a helpful lady in a senior position. Overall, I do not believe this is a suitable school for my children. Unfortunately, my daughter did not secure a place in her preferred school, and I am unsure of what steps to take next. I am hopeful that I can transfer her to a different school soon.
Ofsted has given the school a poor review, leading to sudden restrictions on student freedoms without prior notice. Students have been required to remove nose piercings, raising concerns about potential infections. While student behavior may be a concern, it appears that the issues also lie with the teachers.
