During my initial visit to this spa in early December for a "Classic Pedicure," the cost of Shellac nail polish removal and reapplication was included in the overall price (£50.00). On my return for a second appointment for the same treatment, I opted not to have polish reapplied, yet I was unexpectedly charged extra for the removal at the start of the session. Having had my nails done in various locations worldwide, I have never encountered a situation where polish removal was an additional cost during a pedicure. Olivia did my nails and although clearly getting busier with more people waiting she conscientiously made sure my nails were as I had asked for and checked evenness throughout; also kind and thoughtful customer service. I never leave bad reviews, but my salon visit was so disappointing that I felt compelled to write one. The service from the salon manager was subpar from the start. I requested a redo of a colour I had done there two weeks ago. During my previous appointment, the manager chose a powder colour for my chrome nails, so I didn't know the exact name of the glitter colour. When I asked for help this time, I was met with a sigh and scolded for not noting down the colour previously. It's not uncommon to forget the exact shade. This is not how a customer paying above average for a shellac manicure at a supposedly high-quality salon should be treated. The experience worsened when I was passed to a male nail technician who did a poor job. Chrome nails need a smooth base for a flawless finish. He left a hole in the base coat of one nail, tried to cover it with top coat, and then redid it after my request. However, he seemed agitated throughout, tapping his feet and nail file. After the appointment, I noticed inconsistencies in the chrome application and bumps in the base coat on several nails. The manager agreed to redo some nails, but it took another 20 minutes. While I appreciated the discount for the next appointment, it didn't make up for the overall poor service and the 2.5 hours it took for one manicure. Additionally, my nails chipped within a week, which is unacceptable. My appointment with Tolomani was absolutely spot on. I wouldn't dream of going elsewhere as I'm quite particular about my hair. I showed him what I had in mind and he went above and beyond, leaving me with a fantastic haircut that was styled beautifully.
