I never leave bad reviews, but my salon visit was so disappointing that I felt compelled to write one. The service from the salon manager was subpar from the start. I requested a redo of a colour I had done there two weeks ago. During my previous appointment, the manager chose a powder colour for my chrome nails, so I didn't know the exact name of the glitter colour. When I asked for help this time, I was met with a sigh and scolded for not noting down the colour previously. It's not uncommon to forget the exact shade. This is not how a customer paying above average for a shellac manicure at a supposedly high-quality salon should be treated. The experience worsened when I was passed to a male nail technician who did a poor job. Chrome nails need a smooth base for a flawless finish. He left a hole in the base coat of one nail, tried to cover it with top coat, and then redid it after my request. However, he seemed agitated throughout, tapping his feet and nail file. After the appointment, I noticed inconsistencies in the chrome application and bumps in the base coat on several nails. The manager agreed to redo some nails, but it took another 20 minutes. While I appreciated the discount for the next appointment, it didn't make up for the overall poor service and the 2.5 hours it took for one manicure. Additionally, my nails chipped within a week, which is unacceptable. My recent visit to the nail salon, a place where I've always had top-notch manicures, unfortunately left me feeling conflicted and led me to give it a 2-star rating. This particular visit deviated significantly from my previously positive experiences.
The source of my dissatisfaction stems from the unorthodox approach they took to my pre-scheduled manicure and pedicure session. While I understand that salons employ different methods, the decision to carry out both treatments simultaneously, within the confines of the pedicure chair, was puzzling and uncomfortable. I found myself twisted in an awkward position for almost an hour, contorting my upper body to accommodate the technician working on my manicure while my pedicure was being done. This setup was a far cry from the relaxation and luxury that a visit to a nail salon is meant to offer.
Further contributing to my discontent was the relatively low number of clients in the salon and my deliberate scheduling of separate time slots for each treatment. This only heightened my confusion about the chosen arrangement. Given the available space, there was plenty of room to transition to a manicure table once the pedicure was completed. The absence of this transition left me feeling not just physically uncomfortable but also somewhat marginalized compared to other customers who experienced a smoother and more comfortable transition between treatments.
The essence of a nail salon visit lies in both comfort and indulgence, aspects that my recent experience failed to adequately provide, despite the premium cost. Having my nails redone for the past 15 years, this recent experience was by far the worst. One nail broke just a day after, and within 10 days, 3 out of 4 nails had chipped. In all my previous nail salons, I never had a single nail break within 4-5 weeks. The service was rushed as they did my "infill + shellac" and "Pedicure + shellac" within just 1 hour and 10 minutes! How can such poor quality work be acceptable? A proper pedicure should take at least an hour of dedicated care.
