My recent visit to the nail salon, a place where I've always had top-notch manicures, unfortunately left me feeling conflicted and led me to give it a 2-star rating. This particular visit deviated significantly from my previously positive experiences.
The source of my dissatisfaction stems from the unorthodox approach they took to my pre-scheduled manicure and pedicure session. While I understand that salons employ different methods, the decision to carry out both treatments simultaneously, within the confines of the pedicure chair, was puzzling and uncomfortable. I found myself twisted in an awkward position for almost an hour, contorting my upper body to accommodate the technician working on my manicure while my pedicure was being done. This setup was a far cry from the relaxation and luxury that a visit to a nail salon is meant to offer.
Further contributing to my discontent was the relatively low number of clients in the salon and my deliberate scheduling of separate time slots for each treatment. This only heightened my confusion about the chosen arrangement. Given the available space, there was plenty of room to transition to a manicure table once the pedicure was completed. The absence of this transition left me feeling not just physically uncomfortable but also somewhat marginalized compared to other customers who experienced a smoother and more comfortable transition between treatments.
The essence of a nail salon visit lies in both comfort and indulgence, aspects that my recent experience failed to adequately provide, despite the premium cost. During my initial visit to this spa in early December for a "Classic Pedicure," the cost of Shellac nail polish removal and reapplication was included in the overall price (£50.00). On my return for a second appointment for the same treatment, I opted not to have polish reapplied, yet I was unexpectedly charged extra for the removal at the start of the session. Having had my nails done in various locations worldwide, I have never encountered a situation where polish removal was an additional cost during a pedicure. I visited this establishment last Thursday to have my eyebrows waxed in preparation for a formal occasion. Initially, my eyebrows had a pleasing shape, but unfortunately, the individual performing the waxing removed excessive hair from both the top and bottom, resulting in a misshapen and sparse appearance. It was not surprising that the salon was devoid of customers. Having my nails redone for the past 15 years, this recent experience was by far the worst. One nail broke just a day after, and within 10 days, 3 out of 4 nails had chipped. In all my previous nail salons, I never had a single nail break within 4-5 weeks. The service was rushed as they did my "infill + shellac" and "Pedicure + shellac" within just 1 hour and 10 minutes! How can such poor quality work be acceptable? A proper pedicure should take at least an hour of dedicated care.
